Job Description

Your responsibilities 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Senior Warehouse Operative to support and drive our team based at our site in Dunmurry. Our operations span two locations in Northern Ireland, with facilities in Newtownards and Dunmurry. The Dunmurry location primarily functions as a stockholding facility, where we handle the selection, packaging, and delivery of our products to our clients. 

As the Senior Warehouse Operative, you will become a specialist in utilising the SAP system to oversee stock movement, including receiving goods and managing allocations as required. This role demands versatility, as you'll be involved in operational, logistical, and commercial activities daily. The role necessitates a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and prior warehouse experience, making you instrumental in the site's expansion and success. 

You will have good awareness of operations and production in conjunction with ThyssenKrupp and customer standards and expectations. 

In addition particular attention should be given to health, safety and environmental practices and requirements. 

The Senior Warehouse Operative will also be responsible for ensuring all agreed local Operations SQCDP KPIs will be met and exceeded as well as promoting & adhering to thyssenkrupp company values.

This role does not include line management of the team but is about driving performance within operations.

Hours of work: Monday-Thursday 8.30am-5pm and Friday 8am-3.30pm

Your main duties will be: 

  • Planning & organisation of labour within the Ops team to achieve agreed daily work load, ensuring production time ( Equipment & labour ) is fully utilized & productivity maximized 
  • Lead the WH operatives to maintain efficient pick, pack and deliver processes managing deliveries and handling transport queries  
  • Working closely with internal teams in Sales, Operations, Quality and Logistics 
  • General administration on Transport procedures, liaising and ensuring driver documentation up to date 
  • Supports Quality Engineers to ensure quality standards are understood & achieved 
  • Ensures that 6S standards are maintained  
  • Adheres to the Health & Safety at Work Act at all times 
  • Ensures that Environmental Protection Act Policies are adhered to in accordance with company objectives. 
  • Trains new starters / transferred personnel 
  • To control goods in and out, including booking in stock, running picking notes and PGI’ing 
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure the correct processes are being completed  
  • General housekeeping in Warehouse 
  • Pro-active problem solving 
  • Highlight and pursue cost reduction initiatives 
  • Occasional attendance of other tkMUK sites for meetings, training etc
  • General support to Ops Manager, WH Operatives and Admin

 

Your profile 

Essential experience, skills, and knowledge: 

  • Previous Warehouse experience 
  • Ability to manage and organise effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • PC Literate with a good working knowledge of Windows based applications 
  • Competent with using & working with a MRP / MPS system 
  • Good Communication skills 

 

 

Desirable experience, skills, and knowledge: 

  • A working knowledge of computer windows based applications and SAP 
  • Previous experience in manufacturing industry 
  • FLT & 4 way Reach truck licence holder 
  • Qualified First Aider 
  • IOSH qualification. 
  • CEMA or equivalent racking Inspection certificate
