Job Description

Your responsibilities

The SAP ABAP Developer, reporting to the ERP Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract, is essential for developing and maintaining SAP applications critical to our ECC6 systems. This role involves writing and optimizing ABAP code, understanding business requirements, and ensuring solutions align with project goals. The developer will troubleshoot issues, adhere to coding standards, and collaborate with functional teams.

Your main duties will be:

  • Lead Database Migration Efforts: Manage the technical migration from Oracle to MaxDB, ensuring strategic planning, execution, data integrity, security, and minimal system downtime
  • SAP System Migration: Oversee the technical aspects of migrating a substantial portion of the business from one SAP system to another. This includes mapping and migrating data, customizing and adjusting ABAP code to fit the new system's requirements, and ensuring seamless integration and functionality
  • Implement Enhancement Pack 7: Coordinate the application of SAP Enhancement Pack 7. Assess the impact on existing systems and customizations, adapt ABAP code as required, and liaise with functional teams for a smooth upgrade process
  • Custom Development and Performance Optimization: Develop and modify custom ABAP programs to support new system functionalities and project requirements. Optimize the performance of SAP applications to accommodate changes brought by the system migrations and enhancements
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing technical support throughout the migrations and enhancement implementations. Address and resolve issues to ensure stability and performance of the SAP systems
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Collaborate closely with the ERP Manager, functional teams, and other key stakeholders. Ensure technical solutions are aligned with business goals and project timelines, and effectively communicate progress and challenges
  • Quality Assurance and Testing: Lead the testing efforts, including unit, integration, and regression testing, to guarantee the success of the migrations and the enhancement pack application. Ensure that new implementations meet quality standards
  • Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Document technical procedures, changes, and system configurations. Facilitate knowledge transfer to ensure smooth transition and support by internal teams after project completion

 

Your profile

Essential experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Proven experience in SAP ABAP development, including reports, interfaces, extensions, forms, and workflows
  • Experience with database migration projects, preferably with Oracle to MaxDB migrations
  • Familiarity with SAP system migrations and managing large-scale SAP upgrade projects, including the application of Enhancement Packs
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize ABAP code for performance and functionality

 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in ABAP programming and SAP Data Dictionary
  • Knowledge of SAP modules relevant to the business and integration points
  • Experience with SAP migration tools and methodologies
  • Understanding of SAP architecture and the implications of Enhancement Packs on custom developments
