Your responsibilities

We have a fantastic opportunity here at thyssenkrupp Materials UK for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join the Quality, Health, and Safety Environment (QHSE) Team. As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will be providing advice and support to managers across the business, creating and developing H&S training and ensure legal compliance with H&S legislation and ISO requirements.

This is the perfect role for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to come and take on more responsibility and play a lead role in how H&S is managed in our business and developing H&S training from scratch. You will be required to visit our sites throughout the UK in Milton Keynes, Darton, Preston, Birmingham and Northern Ireland.

Your main duties will be:

  • Ensuring that all Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and communicated
  • Responsibility for ensuring the company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety, and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • Establishing and maintaining a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks
  • Supporting in the development and delivery of the Sustainability strategy
  • Developing of H&S training business wide
  • Advise on the adequacy of risk assessments and safe methods of work when requested
  • Carrying out high-quality Accident Investigation reports and support Line Managers with any accident/Incident Investigations
  • Implementing proactive and reactive safety measures as required
  • Providing practical competent advice to the workforce, supervisors and managers on HSW matters
  • Completing internal and subcontractor audits, and set actions to address the root cause of any findings in relation to audits and investigations
  • Ensuring full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained
  • Updating and managing the HSW KPI’s in line with the company objectives

Your profile

Essential experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Well rounded previous experience in a Health and Safety advisor role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience developing and delivering H&S training
  • Good understanding of the application of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the Companies business
  • Excellent working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
  • Experience of Handling of H&S investigations
  • Experience of creating, implementing, and revising Health, Safety and Wellbeing procedures and documents
  • Valid UK Driving Licence and Vehicle

Desirable experience, skills and knowledge:

  • A NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) would be beneficial
  • Internal Auditor experience is advantageous
  • Previous experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
