About Apprenticeships

Here, at thyssenkrupp Materials UK, we strive for the growth and development of our colleagues, whether this be an apprenticeship, a development programme, or a training course found on our new learning and development website Thrive. Our main focus is uplift our colleagues and help them reach their maximum potential in their roles and encouraging our objectives and values throughout the business. By emphasising this development and working together as One Team, we are able to increase our success as a business.

With our current Apprenticeship offer, we utilise the opportunities from the apprenticeship levy to upskill new and existing colleagues with the following routes;

Apprentice new roles – School or College leavers join our business as an Apprentice in a specific department to learn a plethora of specialised skills around a specific role in the business. We have seen a number of colleagues achieve long serving careers in specialist areas and management using this route into the industry.
We offer Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 Apprenticeships. An example of this is Operations Team (shopfloor) - Engineering Operative Standard, Level: 2.

Upskilling existing roles – existing employees have the opportunity to complete Apprenticeships for role development using the apprenticeship levy. This is either for a role they are currently in or a role they are looking to grow into as part of their succession path. We support Level 2 to Level 7 Apprenticeships.
Examples of areas and qualifications:
Quality, Health & Safety, Environment Team (business wide) - Improving Operational Performance: Performing Engineering Operations, Level: 2.
Operations Team (shopfloor) – Engineering Technician, Level: 5.
